You can call him the world's most ineligible bachelor and he earned that title because Amou Haji has refused to bath for more than 60 years and counting. Standing beside him, you can't but feel nauseated by the thick odour oozing out of his body, left behind by six decades of filth not washed off his body. At 80 years old, Haji, an Iranian who lives an isolated life equated cleanliness with sickness, and has turned down all efforts
by people to bath him.
Once a group of young men offered to give him a bath but luckily, he managed to escape, claiming that the thought of bathing makes him sick. He resides in the southern Iran's Dejgah village in the Fars Province.
His skin is coarse, with out of shape and dirty finger nails. His hair is a mess of thick and almost-solid-strands. His teeth are all brown and rotten, adorned by a hairy face of unshaven beards and mustache. His, is a perfect description of a man soiled in thick mud. Haji loves to smoke dried animal dung and eats rotten porcupine.
At nights, Haji wraps up the day by sleeping in a hole in the ground, which looks quite like a grave, or an open brick shack pack which concerned locals build for him.
